Why knowing ourself is important?

A thousand years old quote “Know thyself“, yet till the day the quote is very relevant to us even in the post modern age. The question is why? why do need to know ourselves? why did Socrates said that? Oh! wait, Socrates did not say so. He rather used it. Did you know it was already written in the Temple of Apollo? Yes, that’s right. According to Copilot, The phrase “Know thyself” (Greek: γνῶθι σεαυτόν) was one of the Delphic maxims inscribed at the Temple of Apollo at Delphi.

Image generated by: Microsoft Copilot

Now, let’s us focus on the main fact, the question is why. Well, here is the answer. Human being as a species without any relation to time, space, and individual values tried to know their values. so let’s deep dive into why knowing yourself is very important no matter what time you are from, what location you were living whether you are Eastern or western, no matter what type of person you are . knowing yourself actually improves your self and your image. I believe, every person holds a whole universe within themselves. have you ever heard of the term invertism? well I believe in it. if you look at Buddhism, you would find out more of like exvertism? now what is exvertism? it is referring to a term where an individual is trying to connect himself or herself to the external universe.it is more of a philosophy of life than any ideologies to define yourself. invertism is on the other hand, a way to connect with the inner self or so to say the inner universe that we all have.through connecting to your universe, you are trying to connect with God. if you look at Buddhism, Lord Buddha doesn’t deny the existence of God, doesn’t even talk about God explicitly. why is that? because God is omnipresent and you cannot avoid the presence of God. when someone has the absolute consciousness comma people can understand the existence of God and a clear manner in the external universe. in the similar manner, when people tries to understand god through understanding themselves, that becomes invertism. Knowing ones self is not just knowing them but also knowing and recognizing the supreme self residing within us.

In Hinduism, one can observe God in three natures and these are God in the form of creation, destruction and preservation. so when someone actually knows themselves by their creativity, their understanding of destruction of their ego and how they preserve their entity is itself understanding the existence of God and his nature.so in this spiritual sense, knowing someone through inside work is not just knowing them but to know God and that is what invertism all about.

Apart from it, one can know themselves in different manners, one can know themselves through knowing their psychology, nature, IQ, through Western or Eastern astrology or numerology or palmistry or knowing the outer world or through books. there are infinite ways to know someone. every kind of knowing unleashes something new with which humans can increase their capabilities.

Knowing my IQ is 115 allowed me to expand myself in different areas. When I understood that my IQ is 115 I understood that I have fast learning ability, strong logical reasoning, good verbal understanding, better than average memory, clear communication skills, high added ability, good academic performance, and strong problem solving skills. Understanding myself is important to improve me. It doesn’t necessarily mean that I have to feel myself superior or inferior to others. It is necessary to know in which sector I can do really good and make progress. Besides one must not disrespect the one who has lower IQ or respect more who has better IQ full stop the necessity here is to understanding someone’s self.

Furthermore, I know my horoscope as western astrology and my sign is Leo in this case I understood what my natures are as a person. For example Leo’s are natural leader, because they are confident, they know their directions, South assured stable and initiator. One of the greatest things about Leo is that they can attract people very easily. It’s not that the other signs are not incapable of attracting people but Leos are special in this case. In a similar manner one who has a different zodiac sign , they have other characteristics. So knowing this capabilities actually helped us to fit ourselves in the society or in our carrier or in our relationship in a very well manner.

I also know myself from the perspective of Vedic astrology, the sun sign, the moon sign, and the ascendant sign. They unlock and unleash your understanding of all your nature in a very different manner so that you can understand your potentials. One must not use them against others or disrespect them because they lack those qualities. Srabon: Similarly I have known myself through Eastern numerology, palmistry comma psychology and through books. For example, when I read the book the art of persuasion, I understood that I have a very positive persuasion skill. So sometimes reading books can also help us know ourselves. And one must not take them as absolute but rather take it as an understanding of themselves.

So now you understand why knowing someone’s self is very important. Before I started my career I started exploring myself in every way possible so that I know what I lack and I know what my superpowers are so that I can take the standpoint. Knowing oneself enables someone to their best. For example, when I understood that I am very idealistic in nature and people find out sometimes that I am very strict or I am very bossy full stop rather than arguing with people I accept the fact that yes I am very idealistic and I sometimes can be very bossy because my idealism does not allow me to compromise my capabilities. So that’s why knowing is itself making someone upgrade themselves. And one must not be rigid about their views and perspectives and so on and on. And I always suggest therefore people to know themselves in every was possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is The Stories Book about?

This exquisite compilation showcases a diverse array of photographs that capture the essence of different eras and cultures, reflecting the unique styles and perspectives of each artist.

How much does The Stories Book cost?

This exquisite compilation showcases a diverse array of photographs that capture the essence of different eras and cultures, reflecting the unique styles and perspectives of each artist.

When will The Stories Book be released?

This exquisite compilation showcases a diverse array of photographs that capture the essence of different eras and cultures, reflecting the unique styles and perspectives of each artist.

Are signed copies available?

This exquisite compilation showcases a diverse array of photographs that capture the essence of different eras and cultures, reflecting the unique styles and perspectives of each artist.

Sign up to get daily stories

Get access to a curated collection of moments in time featuring photographs from historical relevance.

Subscribe

Why knowing yourself is important?
